Textbook: Calculus- 8TH Edition, by Anton, Bivens, and Davis, Wiley Co.
Graphing Calculator required, TI-89 strongly recommended.
Students may also work out of AP Calculus AB Exam Booklets.
The class will meet 4 days each week, three 40-minute classes and one 85-minute block period.
Calculus is an elegant study of change in the universe. By developing our skills and understanding of two important operations, differentiation and integration, we will be prepared to take advanced mathematics, engineering, and physical science courses, and much more. Through lecture, group, and individual work, we will learn the techniques of these operations and their applications.
Students will be assigned weekly problem sets that will be graded on the basis of 10 or 20 points each. There will be 4 chapter exams and a Final Exam each semester. Grades will be based on a total of 1000 points as follows:
Chapter Exams- 100 points each 400 points
Problem Sets 300 points
Participation & Quizzes 100 points
Final Exam 200 points

Students will be encouraged to take the AP Exam for credit, but are not required to take the exam.
