Parent Group Speaker @ OA
On November 13, from 7-8, Jessica Lipkind will speak at Orinda Academy (study hall) on learning disabilities and new ways to address them. Jessica is extremely highly regarded by the therapeutic community, and was recommended as someone with a new, fresh take on approaches to learning challenges. Jessica's talk will be followed by a parent board meeting, but there is no need to stay on if you are pressed for time (although we would love you to if you can).
Jessica's synopsis is as follows:
"Learning Disabilities, ADHD, and other Learning challenges"
This presentation will focus on understanding the specific types of learning disabilities that can impede a student's progress. Reading, math, and written expression problems will be explored, along with clarification about dyslexia. In addition, attentional difficulties will be addressed, including diagnosis, how attention problems manifest, and treatment. Other learning challenges will also be reviewed. Lastly, the assessment and evaluation process of the therapeutic collaborative assessment will be explained.
