If you’re a parent, you probably know that children respond to a variety of learning styles. Some children learn best by listening to information, while others are visual learners. The kinesthetic learning style is less well known. Tactile-kinesthetic learners are best able to understand the lesson plan when they can physically interact with it; that is, they learn best when physical activity is incorporated into the instruction. If your child is a kinesthetic learner, encourage his or her academic success with educational field trips, science experiments, and other hands-on learning activities.
The teachers at your child’s private school can help you determine if your child might be a kinesthetic learner. This learning style could apply to your child if he or she has trouble sitting still, collects certain items, or prefers to stand or walk around while working on a lesson plan.
At Orinda Academy, our educators customize instruction to suit your child’s particular learning style. Please call our college prep school in East Bay at (877) 884-0221 for admissions information.
