On-Campus Days: NEXT WEEK by Grade Level
Check your email, or read Sue’s letter HERE with details and parameters of our on-campus days by grade level next week.

IMPORTANT: Please RSVP to Sue for your student’s attendance next week.

Our on campus attendance schedule:
Monday, December 7 – 9th grade
Tuesday, December 8 – 10th grade
Wednesday, December 9 – all classes and grades remote (no on-campus attendance)
Thursday, December 10 – 11th grade
Friday, December 11 – 12th grade

We will not host on-campus attendance during the final week of the semester, December 14-17, so as not to disrupt teachers’ plans for final projects or exams. All classes will be remote during that week.

Save the Date – Winter Concert December 11
Come see the OA Winter Show online viewing party on Friday, December 11 at 6 p.m. We will email a Zoom link to the show later next week; please feel free to share the event link with anyone who would like to attend. The more the merrier! The show video will also be available for viewing on YouTube after the performance.

Our OA musicians have been working hard all semester on putting together a set of songs for your listening enjoyment, recording their instruments in living rooms, kitchens, and backyards all across the Bay Area. All are welcome to attend – friends and family, frenemies, framily; you name it. The show will include the songs and videos that the band and vocals classes have been working on, as well as a few bonus individual performances submitted by our most industrious musicians.

Hope to see you there!

Save the Date – Parents of Transfer Students Meeting January 6
Parents of students who joined us this year in grades 10-12 please plan for at least one parent to attend a meeting on Wednesday, January 6 from 6:30 to 7:30 with Head of School Sue Porter, Assistant Head of School Mollie Mowat, Director of Academics Laura Turnbull, Learning Specialist Danielle Jaynes, and Counselor Chloe Jhangiani. The purpose of our meeting is to welcome you to the OA community, introduce you to the administrative team, and begin our partnership in supporting your student at OA. Look for a Zoom invite in your email at the beginning of that week.
Poetic Interlude – From Leo
As part of an assignment for U.S. History, Leo B. wrote a poem about Abraham Lincoln, which he has allowed us to share with you. Thank you, Leo, for sharing your writing talent!

Abraham Lincoln was a phoenix who rose from the flames of History.

Log cabin cradle to White House politician.

Made from clay, but transforming himself into gold.

He was the eye in the hurricane for many.

He was passionately pursuing his dreams,

like the captain of a ship pursuing a longed-for destination.

Wry but firm in his stovepipe hat;

He mended the tears in the American fabric.

Ears open to everyone,

And eyes fixed on the breaking of chains.

Chose “to be,” when the tigers of “to not be” were chasing him.

His being was brutally undone,

But his legacy is eternal.
