Founded in 1980, OA was named Best Alternative Learning High School and Best Independent High School from Parents’ Press Best of the East Bay.

Grades for standard courses are given on a A-F 4.0 scale; Honors and AP courses on a 5.0 scale. GPA is computed on the basis of academic courses only.
Approximately 95% of Orinda Academy graduates continue their education in a college or university.
